How do you stand out in the crowd in the world of online dating? For one guy, it was the “lead-up” to his date with his Hinge match, Becca, that did the trick. In a TikTok video, she shares that she has a prompt on her profile that says she has a boat and their conversation started after he responded to it asking what he needed to do to be invited on the boat. She told the guy to “present your qualifications” and he asked for her email to “pass the resume along.”
Becca told him to “make sure it’s specific to the job you are applying for” and he then forwarded a personalized resume detailing why he was the perfect candidate for the role:
- “Enclosed please find my resume. After careful review, I believe you will find my qualifications exceed expectations and I would be the perfect fit for the position of Date/Guy To Invite On Your Boat,” the man writes in the email.
- His resume’s subheading is “Charming Single Man” and he describes himself as a “highly motivated individual seeking the ultimate companion/dance partner/dinner date/weekend getaway partner.”
- For “work history,” he lists “human being” living in New York who dances “like nobody’s watching,” a “superb conversationalist” with a “great sense of humor,” a “limbo champ” and “boating enthusiast.”
- He also notes that he’s “successfully operated both motor boats and personal watercrafts under a New York State boating license” and that he “always brings drinks and sunscreen.”
Impressed with his effort and commitment to “the bit,” Becca invited him to “the first round of interviews.” They continued to play around like it was a job he was applying for, having fun with it all before the date. She gives him an “A-plus” for the exchange and says the date went well and they’re currently in the process of scheduling a second one.
