Tips To Avoid That St. Patty’s Day Hangover

It’s St. Patrick’s Day, and it’s a day that hangover remedies were made for (because amateurs). All day, people in green will chug down excessive amounts of green beer, Guinness, Irish Whiskey, and whatever else they can get their lips around. Of course, doing it in a way that won’t make you feel like human garbage on Friday would be ideal. Take a stab at it with these handy tips.

  • Prickly Pear Cactus – Research shows that taking 1,500 units of the extract five hours before drinking time will “cut hangover symptoms” in half.
  • Tomato Juice with Cayenne Pepper, Sugar, and Lime – It can “replenish electrolytes and get blood sugar back on track.”
  • Tiger Balm – For centuries, it’s been used as a headache cure. Just dab the salve on the back of your neck and temples and massage the headache away…depending on how much you drank, it could take longer.

It’s also a good idea to avoid:

  • Hair of the Dog – It’ll just mean your body has more alcohol to clean out and prolong things.
  • Greasy Breakfast – It’ll probably make you nauseous. Go with “light and bland” instead.
  • Sweating – You’re already dehydrated. “Sweating it out” with a sauna or working out will just make it worse.
  • Aspirin/Pain Relievers - If you must, go for ibuprofen, but only with a ton of water to wash it down.
