It's Singles Awareness Day

We've made it through Valentine's Day, which is a HUGE relief to the singles out there . . . and honestly, probably everyone else as well.

Fittingly, today is National Singles Awareness Day . . . or S.A.D. This "holiday" has been around for about 20 years, and it being the day after Valentine's is no accident.

According to U.S. Census Bureau data, Detroit has more singles than any other city. 71% of people who live there are single. Cleveland is next at 69%. The Cleveland suburb of Euclid, Ohio ranked as the #1 suburb at 62%. Hoboken, New Jersey is #2.

As for states, Vermont and Alaska have the most single men . . . Mississippi and Georgia have the most single women . . . and Nevada and Arkansas have the most divorcees.  (You can find the full lists, here.)

And here's a curveball: all the best singles MIGHT still be pining after an ex.

In a new poll, 43% of singles say they have an ex they'd get back together with "in a heartbeat." That breaks down as 52% of men and 36% of women.

And in another poll, two-in-three people are still holding on to something that an ex gave them. And more than 40% have MULTIPLE items from a previous relationship.

And we're not talking about practical stuff like tools, kitchen items, or even clothes. They are more sentimental than that.

The most common items include love letters, photos, and jewelry.

The gifts people were LESS likely to hang onto from their ex include: Exercise equipment and furniture.

And who's the most sentimental? 68% of men say they still have items from their ex, compared to 62% of women.
