Ask most single women and they’ll tell you dating in this day and age is terrible, and a new report suggests men are the reason for it.
The problem, according to some experts, is that men are suffering from what is called “Golden Penis Syndrome,” a term reportedly coined at Sarah Lawrence college and recently used by journalist John Birger.
Basically GPS stems from the arrogance men have assuming there will be a constant supply of females sexually interested in them because there are fewer men than women who go to college so those that do are in high demand. Such men who suffer from GPS are more likely to cheat and ghost women because they aren’t worried there won’t be others interested. They are also more likely to put less effort into their physical appearance and sexual performance for the same reason.
“We’re seeing a generation of young men who think they’re Adam Driver or Michael B. Jordan. Of course, it’s not about them. It’s the ratio,” Birger, who penned the book best-selling book “Date-onomics: How Dating Became a Lopsided Numbers Game” explains. “When men are in undersupply, the dating culture becomes less monogamous — men are more likely to treat women as sex objects and treat relationships as disposable.”
Birger warns any woman who wants to settle down to watch out for these GPS men, especially if they are in their late 30s and 40s, never married and good looking with good jobs. He notes, “These men are having too much fun playing the field.”
