You might think you’re amazing, fun to be around, and the life of every gathering you attend. Behind your back, however, there might be a negative buzz that you’re not aware of. When the number of those who hang with you doesn’t seem to correspond to the level of awesomeness you feel like you’re putting out into the world, it could be that you’re doing something to turn them away. Here are the nine most common habits that guys have that make others around them secretly hate their guts:
- Preaching –Passion is great. Preaching is obnoxious. No one wants to be around a judgmental prick like that.
- Mooching –If you can’t afford it, don’t go. It’s not hard to earn the rep as the guy who always seems toforget his walletwhenever your crew goes out.
- Momma’s Boy –You’ve never grown up and can’t do anything without your mother’s approval. That’s serious eye-rolling material and makes you ripe for brutal mocking.
- Sex –Sex is awesome. We get it. But when it’s all you talk about, it’s not cool…it makes you look like a desperate perv.
- Downer –No one wants to be around someone who brings them down. If things are bad, get some help, and right your ship. Dwelling on past heartbreaks, depressing topics, and negativity is the ultimate buzzkill.
- Clinginess –Get some confidences, take some chances, and get the insecurities under control.
- Bragging –It would be great to be rich, handsome, well-built, or all of the above. Bragging about it all the time destroys whatever awesome factor you think you have.
- Victim/Anger –At some point, life screws over all of us. That doesn’t mean you have to act like a victim who’s pissed at the world all the time. It’s toxic and it’s what “cancel culture” is based on. Enjoy your life. No one’s out to get you.
- Lies –Friends want to be able to rely on you. If you’re not dependable, can’t tell the truth, and must embellish things to make you look more impressive, it won’t be long before everyone knows you’re full of crap…and it’ll backfire on you.
