Ever wish you could tell your ex you wish things had never ended between you? Lots of us have experienced post-breakup remorse before, but actually expressing that to your former flame? That takes some guts. And it’s just what one woman did after her ex-boyfriend won an Olympic medal. And she did it on live TV!
The ex-girlfriend of New Zealand triathlete Hayden Wilde was watching his event and celebrating with friends and family in his hometown after his win when she was interviewed by local news. “I’m so proud of Hayden, just like all the work he’s obviously done to get there, it’s just amazing,” the unnamed woman says on camera. She adds that she went to elementary school with him and then the interviewer asks what she would say to him and that’s when she laughs and gushes, “I regret breaking up with you.”
But if she was serious about wanting to rekindle their romance, her hopes were dashed when Wilde put his relationship status on blast in an interview. When asked about what he planned to do first as a medalist, he replied, “I think I’ll just be calling my girlfriend,” adding that she was in Spain and had been up since the early hours of the morning to watch his race.
