Many locals are mourning the Ponce Krispy Kreme after it was engulfed in flames early Wednesday morning.
While the local landmark has made national news because none other than basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal, the history of the Krispy Kreme has made it a local treasure.
The Krispy Kreme was opened in 1965, and after Martin Luther King Jr.'s funeral in April of 1968 the location donated 150 dozen donuts to local churches to feed mourners.
"We will bounce back better than ever," said Shaq.
