There’s a new dating app that’s here to help people make love connections through their shared passion for pets.Charmr was created with pet-lovers in mind and lets people check out other singles’ profiles and photos of pets and instead of swiping right, it asks users to “push the paw” to find potential matches.
CEO and founder Manish Mathai was inspired to launch the app after a second date with his now-wife, where she introduced him to her pup, Goodie. He explains, “One of the things that sealed the deal was that her dog approved.” Since her dog helped ignite their romance, he brought that idea to this dating app. Charmr aims to take the pressure off singles by shifting the focus to pets, so the people can hang out and get to know each other with their animals. The app encourages matches to meet in public places with their pets for their dates.
Charmr isn’t the first dating app to use animals to bring people together - there’s Dig for dog owners and Tabby for fans of felines - but this one is open to all pet lovers, whether they’re into rodents, reptiles, birds or horses. Right now, Charmr is focused on users in the Seattle area and plans to expand in Washington state and the West Coast. They hope their laid back environment with a focus on pets will give users an easy conversation starter to get the ball rolling.
