Over the years there seems to be all sorts of travel trends that sweep the nation, and Airbnb is predicting what will be the biggest ones for the next decade.
According to the booking site:
- Experiences are hugely important to people, with 57% of Americans saying they’d rather use their money for an experience rather than to purchase something.
- What’s more, 37% of Americans plan to spend more on experiences this year.
So, what types of vacations are folks interested in this year?
- 30% of Americans are looking to spend their vacation time outdoors, with nature trips a top trending experience.
- Quick trips are also pretty popular, with 32% of Americans looking forward to weekend getaways.
- Folks are also looking to go minimal with their experiences, with Airbnb showing increased interest in Shepherd’s huts and tiny homes.
- 32% of Americans are looking for getaways that help them learn about history and culture. In fact, homes on Airbnb featuring historic keywords, like historic, era, WWI, etc., have been booked 50K+ times in 2020.
- 35% of Americans are looking to enjoy food experiences on vacation, with vegan experiences seeing an increase in interest.
- And folks don’t necessarily need someone to have a good vacation, with 16% of people saying they like to explore an area solo.
