Couple Offered Exposure Instead Of Payment To Wedding Photographer

These days we’re used to hearing stories of so-called influencers asking for free stuff in return for exposure, but this couple may just take the cake.

A couple in Chicago reached out to a wedding photographer and their outrageous request has now gone viral on Reddit. The couple had the nerve to ask the photographer to spend 10 hours shooting their big day in exchange for promotion.

“We are asking your help to sponsor 10 hours of continuous photography coverage,” the email reads. “In exchange, we will be showcasing your company to: 3,000+ combined FB followers, 300 total wedding guests […] 117 unmarried guests between the ages of 24 to 35 years old, [and] 73 parents with unmarried children between the ages of 24 and 35 years old.” Oh, and as a bonus, the photographer’s logo would be added to their “wedding brochure,” which will be “distributed to all 300 wedding guests.”

Needless to say, folks on the Internet came down hard on this couple.

  • “If you did that, one of the guests will see the wedding brochure and contact you,” one person commented, noting, “The first thing out of their mouth would be, “I heard you did the photos for my friends wedding for free. Can you do mine? No? But you did theirs for free.”
  • Another offered, “what the hell are they suppose to do with unmarried guests? If I want to have bread I don't want someone to give me a wheat seed. WTF?”
  • And another translated the email to what they really meant, “We’re not going to pay you. We’re going to give you the opportunity to have one of these other suckers maybe one day pay you."
