Twitter is about to begin a sweep of inactive accounts, including people who have died.
That means you'll need to log on before December 11th if you want to keep your account. The platform has also said that it understands the accounts of the dead may hold sentimental value for friends and family and is looking at how to possibly memorialize them like Facebook does.
Until the social media site announces plans to memorialize the accounts of those who died, their families and friends who turn to those pages for comfort will be grieving all over again.
Former TechCrunch senior writer Drew Olanoff has publicly shared his feelings about losing his dad’s tweets in an article he titled “You can take my dad’s tweets over my dead body.”
