A lot of people love the lure of the open road, which is why road trips are still as popular as ever. But where that road trip may lead folks is a whole other story.
A new poll finds:
- 64% of Americans would love to take a spontaneous road trip with their friends.
- 40% of folks prefer road tripping with family.
- When it comes to family road trips, most put a three-day limit on their travel.
- This is likely due to “car-guments,” with the average family getting into six on a road trip, or an average of two a day.
As for where folks would like to road trip to…
- The Southwest is the most popular (38%), followed by the Northeast (27%) and the South (26%)
- As for specific destinations, the most popular places to road trip to include:
- Grand Canyon, AZ (44%)
- Yosemite National Park, CA (32%)
- Yellowstone National Park, WY (32%)
- Niagara Falls, NY (31%)
- Florida Keys, FL (31%)
- Las Vegas, NV (28%)
And when it comes to the perfect road trip, apparently the key essential is snacks, with 66% of people saying it’s the most important thing to have with them. Other road trip essentials include:
- Phone chargers (62%)
- Water/sports drinks (52%)
- Camera (45%)
- Blanket (41%)
- First aid kit (41%)
- Flashlight (39%)
