Parents these days are constantly getting notes from school about fundraising efforts, special projects and more, and one UK dad decided to have a little fun with it. Manchester, U.K., father of two and doctor Paul Callan shared a mock teacher’s noteon Facebook, which mercilessly pokes fun at all the ridiculous notes parents get from teachers each day.
The note starts out, “Dear Parents, A reminder that on Monday the children are asked to wear coloured contact lenses to raise awareness of the critically endangered Guatemalan colour blind tree gecko. Please bring a £1 donation,” he then goes on to joke about projects kids have to endure, including one celebrating “Medieval Ruins Awareness month," which required kids bring in “a 1:8 scale model of your child's favourite 11th century Roman fortress.”
He also jokes about a craft project for Christmas, noting, “These half finished abominations can be printed onto a tea towel (£17) or mouse mat (£13). They would make wonderful gifts for any relatives who thought it would be a good idea to buy your child a slime making kit last Christmas.”
And the note certainly must have hit a nerve, since it has received almost 200 comments, and has been shared 672 times. “I am a headteacher and I am crying with laughter! Brilliant!!,” one person commented, while another added, “This made my morning! And don’t forget to fill out the same 15-page permission slip form that you’ve filled out by hand 3 times this year!”
