Being a teen is no easy thing. Back in the day, kids turned to parents, family, and mentors to help navigate the waters, but not Gen-Zers. They’re opting to call in life coaches. Yes, life coaches.
The professionals usually reserved for high-powered executives are now specializing in teen issues. Professional hiring site Bidvinecrunched the numbers and found a 280-percent surge, just in the past year, in life coach bookings. More than half were made by clients between the ages of 18 and 22.
The International Coaching Federation did its homework and 35-percent of Gen-Z respondents have a life coach… and that was in 2017.
What are the kids struggling with? The age old issues of self-esteem, fitting in, succeeding at school, and love problems. What makes them different is the added pressure of social media. Let’s face it, it can be brutal out there!
Life coach Connie Henriquez has a wise reminder for kids that get rocked by negative online comments. She reminds them “ the people who left the comments are probably unhappy.” Henriquez also says we shouldn’t be surprised teens are hiring professionals. It’s the best time in life to seek guidance. Teens are drawn to the solution based results.
It can be pricey to hire a life coach, but if it works….
