"The Bachelorette" winner-slash-loser JED WYATT is an easy villain. He took a break from life with his girlfriend to do a dating show . . . just for exposure for his music career . . . and he not only fell in love, but got engaged.
At best, he's a shallow, philandering goof. At worst, he's a conniving con-man, who exploits the emotions of women for his own vanity, career, and selfish whims.
But yet, this is "The Bachelorette". . . a public and televised TOURNAMENT OF LOVE . . . and it's hard to be appalled with Jed's behavior without addressing the nature of the show, and what Hannah is doing throughout this process.
For example, here's Hannah, telling"People" magazine how hard it was to make her choice. And just imagine JED saying this to explain HIS love triangle . . .
Quote, "I loved two different people. I was getting engaged to one and breaking up with the other all on the same day. I was trying to make a choice, but you can't shut off emotions. I wanted to be 100% sure, but I don't think I ever was . . .
"I was immediately attracted to Tyler, but I didn't take it seriously at first . . . He was the scary choice, and Jed was more familiar. In that moment, [choosing Jed] felt like the safest, best decision I could make . . .
"There was a second that I questioned [my decision]. But I felt like my heart was broken in four pieces, and Jed had the biggest piece."
See what I mean?
The 'star' dates a slowly shrinking group of courters all at once. And even in the final weeks, they're "in love" enough to be (at least loosely) considering marriage with at least two different people. It's literally a TOURNAMENT OF LOVE.
So yeah, Jed LIED about his situation, and that's a big deal . . . but he wasn't married. He'd known his previous girlfriend for four months . . . only a little longer than the courtship on the show.
Maybe he had cynical intentions going in . . . but you can't EXPECT to fall in love and get engaged BEFORE you meet someone, even on"The Bachelorette".
Of course, if Jed really didn't fall in love with Hannah, and was just trying to win the show for fame or whatever . . . then he's reached a whole new level of SCUMBAG.
