A British family is looking to hire a tutor for their eight-year-old daughter, but they have very specific requirements. They want a “real life Miss Honey,” the kind character from the 1996 movie “Matilda,” based on the original Roald Dahl story. The parents explain that their little girl is “Matilda”-obsessed and they don’t just want someone to teach her, but someone who looks and acts just like the sweet woman in the film.
According to the parents, their daughter is “extremely timid and struggles with her teachers at school,” in fact, she’s so shy, she “can barely look strangers in the eye.” Their ideal candidate will need to dress and act like Miss Honey, but they’ll pay for the cost of outfits to help her become the part.
In addition to helping the girl learn math, the family expects the tutor to stay in character, so it’s as much about acting as it is tutoring. But they don’t just want an actor, they’re looking for someone with three years experience in teaching or tutoring math. And they’ll pay $73 an hour for the right Miss Honey.
