A full-time student who works full time is busy and broke, but she agreed to take time off to go to her friend’s baby shower and bought a gift. But then her pregnant friend changed the plans and turned that event into a gender reveal party and decided to charge guests an entry fee! And then the mom-to-be sprung another upcoming baby shower and was upset when her friend said she might not make it.
In a Reddit post, the woman shares that she asked off work and splurged on baby gifts for the shower, but about a week before it, she got a text saying the party was now a gender reveal party and the baby shower would be in three weeks. Mom-to-be expects her pal to come to both and then two days before the gender reveal party, she texts to say there’s a $20 entry fee to the party!
The woman told her friend she didn’t have an extra $20, but the future mom told her she can’t make an exception. The mom-to-be got upset, reminding her friend that she already said she’d be there. But when the gender reveal day came, the friend didn’t show up. A few days later, the mom-to-be texted to disinvite her from the upcoming baby shower.
She asked Redditors if she was wrong for not telling her friend she wasn’t going to the party with a cover charge. Some folks point out that she could’ve told her friend she wasn’t coming instead of ghosting, but most people agree that the pregnant friend stinks and that making people pay a cover charge for a gender reveal party is ridiculous and tacky.
