Bridesmaid Posts Picture Of Brides Wedding Dress On Facebook

There are some rules about weddings that everybody knows, with the top one being that a groom shouldn’t see the bride in her wedding dress before the big day. Well, apparently one bridesmaid didn’t get the memo and ruined things for one bride, who was left devastated by the betrayal.

A bride-to-be recently took to the Internet forum Mumsnet to ask for advice after the major bridesmaid fail. Apparently the bridesmaid in question posted a picture on Facebook of the bride in her dress at her last fitting. If that wasn’t bad enough, she actually tagged the bride’s fiancé in the picture so there was no way he’d miss it.

The bride didn’t find out about the post until about an hour or two later and as you can imagine she was furious. She notes, “When I asked her to remove it her response was ‘it doesn’t matter if he’s seen it he’s a man so he will have forgotten what it looks like in 5 minutes time.'” And it seems the bridesmaid didn't just ruin it for the groom.  The bride’s dad saw the picture as well, and it was supposed to be a surprise for him too.

“I just don’t know what to do or how to feel!,” the bride shares. "I am so gutted that it now won’t be a surprise to my partner or my dad.”

Well, users on Mumsnet definitely had the bride’s back and were horrified by the actions of the bridesmaid.

  • “I'm sorry but she should not be your friend or bridesmaid,” one person wrote, while another added, “I can't believe someone would do that.”
  • Another person suggested the bridesmaid may be “jealous,” adding, “there really is no excuse for posting and tagging your dress on Facebook.” And many urged the bride to nix her from being a bridesmaid.
  • Finally, one person tried to assure the bride that the surprise isn’t totally lost, noting, "Don't worry, your dress will look different when your hair and make-up are done etc,” adding, “try not to let it spoil the day.”
