Jussie Smollett Is Released From Jail

Congratulations are in order for Jussie Smollett. An Illinois appellate court ruled on the emergency motion his legal team filed earlier this week. As we told you, they wanted him to be released while his appeal played out. The court has agreed

A judge found that because the “Empire” star’s offenses were “non-violent,” the court would allow him to be released on a $150-thousand individual bond during the appeal. Under the terms of the I-Bond, he won’t have to actually pay unless he skips his court dates.

Naturally, special prosecutor Dan Webb opposed Jussie’s release. The way he sees it, there was “no emergency that warrants the extraordinary relief of staying” the sentence. He went on to say the Jussie didn’t provide any real proof that he was in danger and used “cursory, woefully undeveloped arguments” to sway the court, in the state’s response to the motion for release. Either way, it worked.

Ye Gets Suspended From IG

Apparently, you can go too far on Instagram. Kanye West has been suspended from the platform for 24 hours. According to a Meta spokesperson, he violated the platform's policies on hate speech, bullying and harassment. He is restricted from posting, commenting, and other actions for 24 hours. If necessary, the company will take further action.

How did we get here? It started with Trevor Noah.

  • In case you missed it, “The Daily Show” host was discussing the public feud between Ye, his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, and her new boyfriend, Pete Davidson. The way he sees it, today’s tabloid fodder could turn into a harassing situation. Or worse.
  • He related it to his childhood in South Africa where he grew up seeing the abuse his mother faced with his stepfather. It ended with her getting shot in the head by him.
  • “I’m not saying Kanye will [do that],” the host made clear. “But as a society, we have to ask ourselves questions. Do we wish to stand by and watch a car crash when we thought we saw it coming? Or do we at least want to say, ‘Slow down, let’s all put our hazards on, because there’s a storm coming and s—t might go down.’”

Naturally, Kanye was NOT pleased about Trevor’s missive. He started posting on the site early yesterday morning. The post that got him banned? A screenshot of an Internet search of Trevor with a caption that incorporated a racial slur in the lyrics of “Kumbaya.” Before it was taken down, Trevor had responded by expressing his admiration for Ye as an artist and his sincere concern for him and his family.

Britney Spears Shuts Down Her Instagram Account

Lately Britney Spears has been getting a lot off her chest on Instagram but that just came to an abrupt halt, when the singer's account mysteriously disappeared from the site.

Fans were quickly confused, and concerned, especially since she now doesn’t have a way to speak her mind, but TMZ reports Insta didn’t actually remove the account, Britney deactivated it herself.

So far there’s no word on why she may have deactivated it but it isn’t the first time she’s done so. Back in September she shut it down after getting engaged in order to celebrate. She returned a week later.
