CHARITY DECLINES DONATIONS FROM JAMIE LYNN SPEARS' BOOK SALES

Jamie Lynn Spears has faced some backlash over her new memoir, โ€œThings I Should Have Saidโ€... including from her own sister Britney Spears. Jamie Lynn had planned to donate proceeds from the book to mental health nonprofit This Is My Brave, but theyโ€™ve turned down the offer.

In a statement posted to Instagram on Monday, the charity announced theyโ€™d be โ€œtaking actionโ€ in response to public outcry over the donation, as Jamie Lynn takes heat amid her sisterโ€™s longtime battle to end her conservatorship. The timing of the book, not to mention the scrapped title referencing Britneyโ€™s lyrics โ€œI Must Confess,โ€ put a bad taste in some folksโ€™ mouths, and now This Is My Brave says they wonโ€™t be accepting the donation.

A source tells โ€œPeopleโ€ that Jamie Lynn was โ€œtotally blindsidedโ€ by the decision. Her take is that the charity is taking sides in the controversy, and โ€œessentially saying that one personโ€™s mental health struggles are more valid and important than another.โ€
