MARK ZUCKERBERG LOST ABOUT $7 BILLION YESTERDAY

Yesterday was a bad day for Mark Zuckerberg. It all started Sunday night, when a former employee named Frances Haugen did an interview with "60 Minutes", exposing all kinds of internal corruption at Facebook. Like, the fact that Facebook intentionally prioritizes incendiary content, because they make more money that way. Also, she claimed they KNEW Instagram was increasing suicidal thoughts and eating disorders among young girls, and really didn't do anything about it. (She's testifying before Congress today.)

Then, yesterday at about 11:30 A.M. Eastern, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger all went down . . . and didn't return until the evening. By 4 o'clock, they'd lost nearly $60 million in revenue . . . about $13 million per hour, or $220,000 a minute. And Zuckerberg saw his personal net worth decrease by about $7 BILLION.

It's still not clear what caused the outage, but it appears to have been a problem with the Domain Name System, which translates website names into IP addresses that can be read by a computer.

WILLIAM SHATNER SET TO BECOME OLDEST EVER PERSON HEADING TO SPACE

Captain Kirk from “Star Trek” will get to blast off into space this month. Jeff Bezos’ space travel company, Blue Origin, has announced that William Shatner is going to be on board their second launch with a crew.

The actor is 90 and will become the oldest person in space when they launch from West Texas on October 12th. Shatner will be joined by three others - a former NASA engineer, the co-founder of a software company, and a Blue Origin employee. The space hop will last just 10 minutes and won’t go higher than 66 miles before coming back down.

"I’ve heard about space for a long time now,” Shatner says. “I’m taking the opportunity to see it for myself. What a miracle.”

NETFLIX CREATES CHADWICK BOSEMAN SCHOLARSHIP AT HOWARD UNIVERSITY

Chadwick Boseman’s legacy will continue to impact future generations at Howard University thanks to a new scholarship. Netflix and Howard are establishing a $5.4-million scholarship in the late actor’s honor, The Chadwick A. Boseman Memorial Scholarship.

It will cover four years of tuition for students at Howard’s College of Fine Arts, which was renamed for Boseman earlier this year. He graduated from Howard in 2000 with a bachelor of fine arts degree in directing. This year, the scholarship will be awarded to one recipient in each class and in the future, one incoming freshman will receive it each year.

“It is with immense pleasure and deep gratitude that we announce the creation of an endowed scholarship in honor of alumnus, Chadwick Boseman, whose life and contributions to the arts continues to inspire,” said Howard University President Dr. Wayne A.I. Frederick. “This scholarship embodies Chadwick’s love for Howard, his passion for storytelling, and his willingness to support future generations of Howard students.”
