This Makes Me FURIOUS!

ABC News:

A dog died on a United Airlines flight Monday after being placed in an overhead bin, the airline confirmed to ABC News.

In a Facebook post, a fellow passenger said a mother and her two daughters were boarding the flight with their dog in tow when a flight attendant “insisted” that the dog be placed in the overhead bin.

See below the Facebook post;

United told ABC News it assumes full responsibility for the dog's death. A spokesperson could not immediately say if anyone has been disciplined in the incident.

“This was a tragic accident that should have never occurred, as pets should never be placed in the overhead bin,” United said in a statement. “We assume full responsibility for this tragedy and express our deepest condolences to the family and are committed to supporting them. We are thoroughly investigating what occurred to prevent this from ever happening again.”

As a pet parent-- you all know my LOVE for Kiki and all other pets--- placing ANY LIVING BREATHING THING inside an overhead bin is INSANE! Please, United, kick me OFF the plane for not being able to place my PET which is in the AIRLINE APPROVED CARRIER and paid the $125 fee---

COME ON; how incompetent was the flight attendant who even THINKS placing a LIVING creature inside the BIN  is okay ??

With all the insane stories about pets + planes, or even people + planes this has got to stop.

I understand that flying is a luxury, but this instance the family followed all United's rules and policies---- I would again be happy to get off that flight, raise hell and pay to fly with a different airline before I took my sweet pet and placed them in an overhead bin with my BAG.

I read the post from the other passenger; the family was indeed that a family of three, mom didn't want to do it, but did anyway--- again OFF that PLANE.Now United says "sorry" and forced the mom to carry the dead puppy off the flight with her TWO KIDS ? Offering its "condolences" ??!?!?!? NO- not acceptable!

Ooohhh... heated I tell you.

I'll post any updates, and as always your comments are welcome below. - Denise, pet parent of a Cav-a-malt named Kiki.
